Kimo Theatre

The brainchild of Italian immigrant Oreste Bachechi Kimo Theatre opened in 1927 giving the Duke City a Southwestern style theater that remains a landmark to this day. Every piece of architectural design in the structure which features a heavy Navajo influence has significance and meaning. A building that cost $150000 to build ($2 million in today’s dollars) survived a fire in 1977 was later renovated and today is a shining 650-seat treasured venue that still hosts film theater and musical performances on a weekly basis.
